Disney World Resort – Port Orleans

Did you know that the Walt Disney World resort Port Orleans in Orlando is actually two resorts in one?  Yes, it’s true — Port Orleans is made up of French Quarter and Riverside.

Both of these resorts make me think of Louisianna — the wonderful New Orleans French Quarter, as well as the graceful mansions that dot the great rivers of the state.

I don’t think one is better than the other; they just have slightly different “flavors”, and they are both Disney World Moderate resorts.  (Moderate means they aren’t the cheapest to stay in, nor are they the most expensive.)

Riverside is the more bustling of the two, because it contains the restaurants and the boat dock, which takes you off to Downtown Disney.  So if you’re in French Quarter and want a bite to eat, you’ll have to take the (lovely) walkway to get to Boatwights, the table-service restaurant.  But make a reservation, as they are busy!

If you want to go to any of the Disney World theme parks, you’ll need to catch one of the complimentary buses that take you to the resorts, as well as the other hotels, if you are curious about them.

French Quarter is the quaint side of Port Orleans.  Around the pool area and along the river area, the theme is definitely carried out, with pletny of wrought iron and lanterns.  And the (large) pool area is fantastic, with a sea-monster-looking waterslide.

I enjoyed my stay, and here are a few slides of this Florida Walt Disney World resort Port Orleans, for you to enjoy.
