Disney World Florida Vacation Package

Disney World is one of the most popular Florida vacation spots in the Sunshine State, and is also be the trip of a lifetime.  Since it’s not what you would call cheap, you want to choose wisely, to get the most for your money.  Here are some things to consider when hunting down the perfect Disney World Florida vacation package.

Compare the same way.  By this I mean compare packages with similar options — what kind of hotel, what ticket options, or if the Disney Dining plan is included (just for starters).

What kind of tickets are included?  This is an area that can trip people up, because there is more to be had than just a base ticket.  You can get them with no expiration date, ones that include the water parks, or the most popular, the Disney World park hopper pass.  You can mix and match these options, but you don’t want to pay for more than you need.

Are you staying on the Disney property?  There are lots of advantages to staying on the Walt Disney World property, in one of the resorts.  For one, the magic lasts, because the resorts are themed and the staff is helpful and friendly.  You can also pop back to your room for an afternoon siesta or a dip in the pool, before going back to the parks. 

Cancellation policies?  You need to know what kind of cancellation policies are in force for your Disney World Florida vacation package.  True, no one wants to cancel such a wonderful vacation, but sometimes you have to.  Know how much lead time you need to give, plus what kinds of penalties are involved.!

Vacation Packages for Disney World

A Disney World Florida vacation package isn’t cheap, but it is a magical vacation, one you’ll remember for years to come.  Check around on the internet to see what options are available, before you decide upon one.

Walt Disney Resort Pricing

There are four main categories of Walt Disney World resorts in Orlando.  They are:

• Value:  Least expensive, can be under $100/night.
• Moderate:  A little more money, generally between $130-$200/night.
• Deluxe:  Luxury surroundings and prices, generally $250 and up a night.
• Vacation Club:  Priced in the Deluxe category, these are timeshares with sizes from studio to three bedroom villas.

So those are the pricing categories; now let’s see where they are located around Disney World!

Animal Kingdom:

These are the resorts located in the Animal Kingdom area, and their pricing category:

• All-Star Movies (Value)
• All-Star Music (Value)
• All-Star Sports (Value)
• Animal Kingdom Lodge (Deluxe)
• Coronado Springs (Moderate)
• Pop Century (Value)

Downtown Disney

These are the Walt Disney World resorts in Orlando that are near to Downtown Disney

• Old Key West (Vacation Club)
• Port Orleans, French Quarter (Moderate)
• Port Orleans, Riverside (Moderate)
• Saratoga Springs (Vacation Club)

EPCOT

Here are the EPCOT-area resorts; some are so close you can actually walk to EPCOT!

• Beach Club (Vacation Club)
• Boardwalk Inn (Vacation Club)
• Caribbean Beach (Moderate)
• Yacht Club (Deluxe)

Hollywood Studios

Alas, there aren’t really any resorts close to Hollywood Studios.

Magic Kingdom

Lots of resorts in this area!  They are both some of the oldest and the newest, and they are:

• Cabins at Fort Wilderness (Moderate)
• Contemporary (Deluxe)
• Grand Floridian (Deluxe)
• Polynesian (Deluxe)
• Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe)
• Wilderness Lodge Villas (Vacation Club)

One neat thing is that the Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian are right on the monorail loop to the Magic Kingdom and with a transfer, to EPCOT.  Can you say “convenient”

And Finally…

…there are three other resorts that are not traditional or in two cases, even Disney!

• Fort Wilderness Resort Campground (Magic Kingdom area, Value and below)
• The Swan (EPCOT area, roughly Moderate)
• The Dolphin (EPCOT area, roughly Moderate)

These final two, the Swan and Dolphin, are not actually owned by Disney World, although they are on Disney property.  But they do have the same resort benefits as do the “real” Disney resorts.
